Supports I can Offer

For a quick glance at support from me, zoom in on the infographic below. For a more detailed description, scroll down below the infographic.

Instructional Coach

Catalyst for Change

I will be investigating the current practices we are using in our district to be sure they are the most current, researched based practices to help our students succeed. I can assist in making evidence-based changes in and out of the classroom. Change and a growth mindset are necessary in keeping up with the current research that will benefit our students.

Classroom Supporter

I have three goals in mind for this part of instructional coaching.

1. As mentioned above, I will be working to ensure our district is using the most current instructional and classroom management research-based strategies. This means I will be doing most of the leg work on identifying the strategies, researching how to implement, and supporting teachers in the implementation and continuing support process.

2. When teachers would like data about something occurring in their classroom, such as student behavior, wait time, implementation of a new strategy, etc. I can come in and write the data down so it is easily seen by the teacher who is using it. There would be conversations later, if necessary, about what the teacher notices from the data.

3. I will also be available for co-teaching in individual teachers' classrooms. This may look like an extra set of hands during a project, collaborating on lesson planning and teaching, or showing how to implement a new behavior management strategy with students.

Learner

Finally, I will be constantly learning about the people and knowledge around me. I will be taking in information about students that will help me find best practices for the population of students we work with. I will be researching teaching and classroom management strategies that are current and useful for the age of students, subject area, and issue occurring in our district. I am willing to work with teachers to learn what they need from me. I will take the time to do the extra research and planning that we wish we can do on a regular basis.

At-Risk Coordinator

Academics

I will work with teachers and/or administration to identify students who are struggling academically. These students will be identified using data, such as the ineligibility list, the missing assignment list, or grades on infinite campus. A plan will be created with input from the student, myself, and any other interested person, if necessary. I will check-in with the student on a regular basis to see how the plan is working and revise as necessary. Below is an example of what a plan might look like.

At-Risk Plans

I will work with teachers and administration to identify students who might fall under the category of at-risk for attendance, social emotional issues, behavior problems, etc. I am willing to be a part of the team that creates a plan for the student, in conjunction with the teacher, admin, student, parent, or any other person necessary, to be sure the student is receiving proper assistance. I will also check-in with the team as needed to ensure the plan is working and make any changes necessary at the time. Below is an example of what a plan might look like for a social emotional issue with peers.

Bridge the Gap

I will be the bridge between students and teachers to ensure goals are aligned to best assist our students who are struggling at the time. I can help identify the people who will be necessary to be a part of the plan, as well as follow up on the process of moving our students towards success. As the Twin Cedars Mission Statement states, the Twin Cedars community wants to educate "...  all individuals, enabling them to lead productive, responsible and fulfilling lives in a diverse society." In order to do this, we must all work together to better help OUR students.
